Chamber to Accept Applications for Next Leadership Sheridan County Class

The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce will begin accepting applications Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, for the 2027 Leadership Sheridan County class.

Applications will be accepted through Oct. 31, 2026.

Leadership Sheridan County was established in 1993 after the Chamber identified a need for a community leadership development program. The first class, consisting of 12 participants, graduated in January 1994. Since then, the program has continued to develop future community leaders, graduating nearly 500 alumni.

The 10-month program provides participants with leadership training as well as an in-depth look at Sheridan County, including its government, history, economy, culture, educational systems and more. Participants learn from local leaders and experts while developing relationships with fellow class members and gaining a better understanding of ways they can contribute to the community.

“Leadership Sheridan County is an opportunity to step outside your day-to-day role, learn more about the community we all call home and connect with people who are committed to making Sheridan County a great place to live, work and do business,” said Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce CEO Teresa Detimore. “We encourage businesses and organizations to consider sponsoring an employee and individuals to take advantage of this opportunity to grow as a leader and become more involved in our community.”

Anyone age 18 or older is eligible to participate. Area businesses, public and private agencies, civic organizations and other groups are encouraged to sponsor individuals with leadership potential. Applicants should have a desire to learn more about Sheridan County from both economic and cultural perspectives and must have the support and commitment of their employer to fulfill the program requirements.

The program includes a one-day retreat, seven full-day modules and an overnight trip to Cheyenne. 

Participants also are encouraged to take an active role in planning and facilitating the Leadership Sheridan County program for the following year, extending their involvement beyond their own class experience.

Applications for the 2027 Leadership Sheridan County class will be available beginning Thursday, Oct. 1, at www.sheridanwyomingchamber.org or at the Chamber office, 54 S. Main St. Applications are due to the Chamber by Saturday, Oct. 31. For more information, call the Chamber at (307) 672-2485.
