Sheridan, Johnson County Manufacturers to Host Public Tours in Celebration of Manufacturing Month

Over the next decade, 3.8 million new manufacturing workers will need to be hired in the U.S, with up to 1.9 million of those jobs likely to go unfilled if workforce challenges are not addressed, according to the National Association of Manufacturers.

To help bridge that gap, the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Business Retention & Expansion Committee, in partnership with Manufacturing Works, will again celebrate the manufacturing industry with free public tours of local manufacturers throughout the month of October 2026.

Since 2017, the Chamber has participated in the annual National Manufacturing Day celebration on the first Friday in October. Known as “MFG Day,” Manufacturing Day is an annual national event to showcase modern manufacturing technology and to help shape people’s perceptions about today’s manufacturing environment. In 2024, the Manufacturing Day celebration was expanded throughout the month of October to provide more opportunities for students and the public to visit the businesses. That trend continues this year with several local manufacturers offering tours throughout the month.

“Manufacturing is an important part of the strength and diversity of our local economy, and there are so many incredible businesses creating, building and innovating right here in Sheridan and Johnson counties,” stated Chamber CEO Teresa Detimore. “Manufacturing Month is a wonderful opportunity to shine a light on that work and invite our community to see it for themselves. We encourage everyone to take advantage of these free public tours, learn something new and discover the people and businesses behind the products made right here in our community.”

The schedule of tours and participating manufacturers is available on the Chamber’s website, www.sheridanwyomingchamber.org. The tour schedule is subject to change and additional tours may be added throughout the month. For questions, please call the Chamber at (307) 672-2485.
