The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Sheridan Association will celebrate the reopening of Sheridan’s Main Street with a Chamber Ambassadors’ ribbon cutting and an expanded 3rd Thursday festival on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

The celebration signals the completion of the Sheridan Main Street Resurfacing and Utility Upgrade Project that began in April 2023. The ceremony and ribbon cutting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the S. Main and Works St. intersection. Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger, along with other city officials and representatives from WYDOT and Oftedal Construction will be in attendance. The Chamber and DSA invite all Main Street businesses who were within the project zone to also join in on the ribbon cutting.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the reopening of Main Street, and we would love to have the community join us,” said Teresa Detimore, program development director for the Chamber. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community and businesses for their patience and support throughout this process. A special thanks goes to the City, WYDOT and Oftedal Construction for their dedication and hard work in completing this project ahead of schedule.”

In addition to the ribbon cutting ceremony, DSA will host an expanded 3rd Thursday event on Main Street and Grinnell Plaza. The festival will extend from Alger to Works Street and include additional musical entertainment by Knuckles, a watermelon eating contest, bouncy house, RC cars, painted snowplows from Sheridan’s local elementary schools, fly fishing demonstrations and more.

The 3rd Thursday event begins at 5 p.m. and runs through 9 p.m.
