30 Years of Strolling: For Babe’s Flowers, Christmas Stroll is A Tradition Worth Keeping

From decorating the Christmas tree to singing carols to attending Christmas Eve church service together, the holidays bring all sorts of special family traditions. In the last 30 years, the Christmas Stroll has become a cherished part of many families’ traditions, said Heidi Parker, owner of Babe’s Flowers, and that’s one of the reasons she’s participated every year since the event began.

“Our customers tell us that the Christmas Stroll has become a tradition for their families, and we are proud to a part of that each year,” Parker said.

Below, Parker shares a bit about how the Stroll became a Babe’s Flowers tradition and what makes the event so special.

Why has your business been a longtime supporter of Christmas Stroll?

Our business has been a longtime supporter because it’s such an amazing time of year that we look forward to, and the business it drives to the downtown merchants is fantastic!  Our sales have steadily risen over the years due to the Stroll.  The closure of the street is a big plus that allows for more room for all the customers to mingle.

Do you have a favorite Christmas Stroll theme?

It’s hard to pick one favorite Christmas Stroll theme.  I love snowmen, so anything that involves them, I tend to love a little more.  The Snow Globe theme was a fun one, as was the Sugar Plum Fairy theme. (Editor’s note: The theme of the 2022 Stroll was “Snow Globe Christmas”, while the 2014 Stroll was “Sugar Plum Stroll.”)

How has participating in Christmas Stroll benefitted your business?

Participating in the Stroll has helped our business by providing a fun atmosphere for shoppers and getting them in the mood for Christmas shopping by having tremendous sales on Stroll day.  People come down with the intent to spend their dollars locally, and the Stroll makes it even better with all the fun activities for families.
