Meet the Chamber Staff: Karen Myers

Karen Myers has served as the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce’s Administrative and Finance Director for nearly 13 years, and has become a key member of the Chamber’s team in that time. If you’re a Chamber member, you likely interact with Karen on a regular basis, whether she’s printing out your Chamber Bucks, checking you into the Chamber Lunch program or helping operate the Beer Garden at the Sheridan County Fair Buyer’s Dinner.
Below, Karen shares a little bit of her story. Come visit Karen and the rest of the Chamber team during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you do for the Chamber?
I am a Wyoming native, born and raised in Cody, Wyoming. I have lived in Sheridan County for 25 years. I have an associate’s degree in business from Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming, an associate’s degree in art from Sheridan College, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wyoming. I have taken master level art curriculum classes at Regis University in Denver, Colorado where I also acquired a K-12 teaching certificate in art.
I was the Executive Director of the Sheridan Artist’s Guild (now SAGE Community Arts) for 8 years. During this time, I was also part-time Executive Director of the Sheridan County School District #1 Recreation District. I am currently the Administrative and Finance Director at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce. I have been in this position for 12 ½ years.
What are you most proud of accomplishing during your time with the Chamber?
As a team, the Chamber has grown the membership to over 850 members, which is phenomenal for a community the size of Sheridan County. This is the thing that I am most proud to have been a part of.
What are you working on currently that you’re most excited about?
Currently, I am the staff liaison for the Ag & Natural Resources committee and the Government Affairs committee. Both volunteer groups are working hard to fulfill the Chamber’s mission through conversations, involvement, and education. They continually reach out to other Chamber members and the community, encouraging them to become actively involved in the future of Sheridan County. It’s the inspiration that I need to continue as a team member for this organization.
