Moving forward with gratitude and vision
By Teresa Detimore, CEO, Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce
This article appeared in the Feb. 8, 2025, Community Perspectives column in The Sheridan Press.

I love this Chamber, and I love this community. When I co-wrote the April Community Perspectives article reflecting on my 15 years with the Chamber, I tried to express just how much both mean to me. At the time, I didn’t know the changes that lay ahead. Shortly after that article was published, we embarked on a transition none of us could have anticipated.
Through this transition, we stayed true to what we’ve always known—perseverance and dedication to our community. That’s what we learned from Dixie. And as we move forward, I am thrilled to continue serving the businesses and people of Sheridan County. Having spent 15 years working alongside Dixie to make the Chamber an extraordinary organization, I am committed to upholding and growing our reputation—not just locally, but across the state.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have learned from Dixie’s leadership. Her vision and unwavering dedication have shaped the Chamber into what it is today. She is one of the strongest women I know, leading with integrity and grit—qualities that have inspired me throughout my role as Program Development Director and now as CEO. Stepping into this position, I do so with deep gratitude for the foundation she built and a strong commitment to continuing our mission of supporting and strengthening local businesses.
Sheridan County is a remarkable place — our vibrant downtown, thriving industries and strong community connections make it truly special. I want to see that continue and expand, creating even more opportunities for business success. The Chamber has always been a hub for collaboration, innovation and connection, and my goal is to build on that legacy. I look forward to exploring new opportunities and ensuring that we remain a valuable resource for our members and the community.
On that note, I invite you to join us on Feb. 26 for our Awards of Excellence ceremony, where we will celebrate the outstanding businesses, organizations and individuals in our community. This event is an opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of those who contribute to Sheridan’s success. Winners, voted on by our membership, will be announced, and we encourage everyone to attend. More information is available on our website: sheridanwyomingchamber.org.
Looking ahead, we are excited to continue our Ignite Conference on May 20. Now in its 10th year, this conference provides professionals at every level with valuable insights, best practices and innovative ideas to fuel their growth. With a full day of seminars, attendees can customize their experience by selecting sessions most relevant to their personal and professional development.
I also invite you to stay connected through our regular monthly Chamber events: Business Before Hours the first Wednesday, the Chamber Lunch Program the second Wednesday and Business After Hours the third Wednesday.
Mark your calendars, get involved and take advantage of the many resources we offer. The strength of our Chamber comes from the dedication of our businesses and community members, and I look forward to working together to make Sheridan even stronger.
Let’s keep moving forward — together.
