Candidate forums for Primary Election Candidates Set for July 20, 21 and 23

SHERIDAN, WY (July 1, 2026) – The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee is hosting a series of Candidate Forums for the primary election candidates on Monday, July 20, and Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the WYO Theater as well as on Thursday, July 23, at 6 p.m. at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton.
The forums provide an opportunity for those running in contested and uncontested races for elected office in the Aug. 18, 2026, primary election to share information about themselves and their platforms. Candidates in contested races will give a brief introduction, followed by a Q&A period and a closing statement, while uncontested candidates will provide brief statements.
The July 20 forum will feature candidates for city and county office including Clerk of the District Court, County Treasurer, County Assessor, County Attorney, County Coroner, County Sheriff, County Clerk, County Commissioners and Sheridan City Council.
The July 21 forum will feature candidates for state and national offices including U.S. Senate, Governor, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Secretary of State, State Treasurer, State Auditor, State Senator for District 21 and State Representatives for Districts 29, 30, 40 and 51. The candidates for U.S. House will not be participating in the July 21 event as they will be featured in a debate cohosted by the Chamber Aug. 4 at Sheridan College.
The July 23 forum will feature all county races as well as municipal and legislative races relevant to the Tongue River Valley. Participating races include County Treasurer, County Assessor, County Attorney, Clerk of the District Court, County Coroner, County Sheriff, County Clerk, County Commissioners, Dayton Mayor, Dayton Council, Ranchester Mayor, Ranchester Council, State Senator for District 21 and State Representative for District 51.
Communications regarding the candidate forums have been sent to the contact information provided by each candidate in their filing. If you are a candidate who has not contacted the Chamber about participating in the forums, please reach out to Stephen Dow at sdow@sheridanwyomingchamber.org or 307-672-2485 before end of day on July 6.
Questions for the candidates may be submitted in advance to the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee for the committee’s consideration. The deadline for submitting questions is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Questions should be emailed to sdow@sheridanwyomingchamber.org or delivered to the Chamber office at 54 S. Main St. in Sheridan. Please specify what races the questions are for.
All questions will be asked by the moderator during the events. Due to time limitations, no direct questions from the audience will be allowed.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. The July 20 and 21 forums will be livestreamed and recorded. The recordings will be available within 48 hours on the Chamber’s YouTube channel and website, sheridanwyomingchamber.org.
The schedule and names of candidates attending will be available prior to the forum via local media and the Chamber’s newsletter, website and social media beginning next week.
