Community Perspectives Column: Celebrating the Season of Community and Connection

Editor’s Note: This column originally appeared in the Nov. 15 edition of The Sheridan Press.
As the holiday season approaches, Sheridan County is once again coming alive with the spirit of community, celebration and local pride. At the Chamber, we’re honored to help usher in this special time of year through some of our most beloved traditions and important year-end opportunities for local businesses.
Mark your calendar for Friday, Nov. 28, as we celebrate the 30th Annual Sheridan Christmas Stroll throughout Sheridan County. For three decades, the Christmas Stroll has brought together friends, families and visitors to experience the magic of the holiday season in true Sheridan style. This year’s theme, “30 Years of Strolling,” celebrates the rich tradition that continues to be one of our community’s most cherished events.
Throughout Stroll day and night, you enjoy holiday sales and specials and look for your matching Stroll button. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting with children at the WYO Theater from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Stroll Night will feature festive lights, holiday music, warm drinks, treats, wagon rides and a grand finale fireworks show. Be sure to purchase your 2025 Christmas Stroll button from participating businesses or the Chamber office for a chance to win prizes and show your community spirit while you shop.
The holiday shopping fun doesn’t stop on Stroll Day! Our annual Get Caught Shopping campaign encourages everyone to continue supporting local businesses throughout the holiday season. Shoppers wearing their 2025 Stroll button while visiting Stroll participating businesses on Stroll Day and the three Saturdays following may be “caught” by our Chamber elves and rewarded with Chamber Bucks that can be spent right here in Sheridan County. It’s a fun way to spread holiday cheer while reminding us all that every local purchase helps strengthen our community and keeps our economy thriving.
In addition to holiday festivities, the Chamber is helping prepare the community for the upcoming Wyoming legislative session. Our annual Legislative Forum will take place Thursday, Dec. 19, at Sheridan City Hall. This event provides a valuable opportunity for local businesses, nonprofit organizations and residents to share input with members of Sheridan County’s legislative delegation before they head to Cheyenne. Call the Chamber at 672-2485 for details or to schedule a time to present.
Finally, as we look ahead to the new year, we’re preparing our 2026 Community Guide and Chamber Member Directory in partnership with The Sheridan Press. This publication is distributed widely across Sheridan County and beyond, serving as a go-to resource for residents, newcomers and visitors alike. To be included in the upcoming edition, businesses must join or renew their Chamber membership by mid-December. Membership not only provides valuable exposure but also connects businesses to a powerful network of community and business leaders.
From festive celebrations to meaningful conversations, this season reminds us of the incredible community we’re fortunate to call home. The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to shop local, get involved and celebrate together as we close out a wonderful year and look forward to another year of growth and connection in 2026.
