Chamber to Host Legislative Forum Nov. 29

The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee will host its annual Legislative Forum in Sheridan starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Sheridan City Council Chambers at City Hall, 55 Grinnell Plaza.

The Legislative Forum provides an opportunity for businesses, organizations and individuals to bring topics before a panel of local state legislators prior to the next session of the Wyoming State legislature.

The Chamber is now scheduling the presentation times for this forum, and they fill quickly. A limited number of 15-minute time slots are available, which include 10 minutes to address legislators and five minutes for questions and answers. Presentation materials (handouts, fact sheets, etc.) will need to be submitted to the Chamber by Friday, Nov. 18, and will be provided by the Chamber to the legislators prior to the forum. Due to time constraints that day, Powerpoint or other computer-based presentations will not be allowed.

A schedule of presentations will be announced prior to the event. The forum is open to the public.

To schedule a presentation time or for additional information, contact Karen Myers at the Chamber at 672-2485 or kmyers@sheridanwyomingchamber.org.

Alexis Evans Named Winner of 2022 Christmas Stroll Button Design Contest

The winning design for the 27th Annual Sheridan Christmas Stroll Button Design Contest was unveiled Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, during a special presentation by Sheridan Mayor Rich Bridger and Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce CEO Dixie Johnson at City Hall.

Alexis Evans, currently a seventh-grade student at Sheridan Junior High and daughter of Travis and Jennifer Evans, created the winning design. Sheridan County students in Grades 1 through 6 were invited in the spring to submit designs to the Sheridan County Chamber’s Christmas Stroll Committee for the Stroll Button Design Contest. The committee selected the winning design based upon how well it reflects this year’s theme, “Snow Globe Christmas.”

Alexis received a framed copy of her button design, the first button and $100 in Chamber Bucks.

Stroll buttons each have a unique number and are purchased by the public, who begin wearing them at the Christmas Stroll. While shopping locally during Christmas Stroll and through Christmas Eve, button wearers look in participating businesses for the number that matches their Stroll Button. Those with matching numbers win a prize from the business valued at $50 or more.

Stroll button purchasers are encouraged to continue wearing their Stroll buttons on Stroll Day and throughout the holiday shopping season for the Chamber’s “Get Caught Shopping” campaign. If caught shopping locally in participating businesses by Chamber elves while wearing their Stroll button, they can win Chamber Bucks in amounts from $25 to $200.

Stroll buttons will be available for purchase by the public the first week of November at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, 54 S. Main St., and at participating businesses. Cost remains $5 each.

This year’s Christmas Stroll will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25. Stroll button holders can begin checking for matching button numbers that morning. Main Street and Grinnell Plaza will be closed from 4 to 8 p.m. for hay wagon rides, giveaways and more. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting with children and available for photos at the WYO Theater.
