Support Your Local Chamber!

Today, the third Wednesday in October, is National Support your Local Chamber of Commerce Day. This day was created to raise awareness and highlight the work of the 4,000 chambers of commerce in our country and the businesses they represent. The idea behind the day is rooted in the principles of community development and support for local businesses.

Chambers of Commerce play a vital role in the local economy and are deeply rooted in the communities we serve. As champions for local businesses, Chambers advocate for their interests and concerns at the local, state and federal levels, working tirelessly to create a business-friendly environment, which ultimately benefits everyone in the community.

Here in Sheridan County, the local chamber has been active since 1913,  and currently has over 850 members. We promote economic development; help businesses thrive through educational opportunities and networking events that connect them with customers and other businesses; and assist with job recruiting and advertising, among other things.

We are proud of our commitment to supporting local businesses and strengthening the community, and we invite you to celebrate Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day.  Below are a few ways to actively participate.

Support Local Businesses. Spread the word about your favorite local businesses on social media, write reviews and recommend them to friends and family. Word-of-mouth marketing is powerful. Make a conscious effort to shop at local businesses. By choosing local, you’re not only supporting your neighbors but are also investing in the community’s prosperity.

Volunteer. Offer your time and skills to support Chamber initiatives and community projects. Every little bit helps, and your contributions can be invaluable.

Engage with your Chamber. Become a member if you’re not already. Not a business? That’s okay. We have membership options for individual supporters. Attend events or join committees. Your involvement can make a significant difference in the local business landscape.

Post to social media. Celebrate the day and highlight any Chamber events you’ve attended in the past year or any positive experiences you’ve had, thanks to your local Chamber of Commerce. We look forward to hearing from you!
