Meet the Chamber Board: Ty Malone

Helping local businesses thrive is something Ty Malone has long cared about and has influenced much of his life’s work, from helping on his family’s ranch west of Casper to serving as vice president of finance at Kennon.
That desire to help businesses thrive led Malone to become involved with the Chamber’s Business Retention and Expansion Committee, which works to help area businesses grow and prosper, and eventually the whole Chamber board, which he has served on for a year-and-a-half.
Below, Malone shares his story and how “the Chamber has been a tremendous resource – both for Kennon and me personally.”
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m Ty Malone, a sixth-generation Wyoming native who grew up raising cattle, who still helps out on my family’s ranch west of Casper. I’m the vice president of finance at Kennon Products here in Sheridan, where I get to blend my background in finance with my passion for Wyoming-made manufacturing. One of the highlights of my career has been helping lead Kennon to become 100% employee-owned.
Outside of work, I serve on the chamber board and stay involved in youth ag programs like 4-H. My wife and I have three kids, and as a family we raise show goats, which keeps us busy and grounded!
What is your role(s) with the chamber board and/or committees and how long you have been serving on each?
I have been on the board for about a year and a half. I am currently the chair of the Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) committee. (I’ve been the chair for one year, vice-chair for another year and on the committee for four.) I have also been the board liaison to the Ag and Natural Resources Committee for one-and-a-half years.
Why do you volunteer for the Chamber and what impact has it had on you?
I volunteer with the Chamber to help Sheridan County businesses succeed and ensure that continues to happen. Helping local businesses thrive is something I care deeply about, and the Chamber plays a vital role in making that possible. It’s been a tremendous resource for both Kennon and me personally — connecting us with other business leaders, supporting growth and fostering collaboration across Sheridan County. There are countless connections professionally and personally that have resulted from the Chamber. The relationships and shared purpose the Chamber cultivates strengthens our community.
