Community Perspectives Column: July 26 is “All or Nothing Day,” and it’s a perfect fit for Wyomingites

Note: This column originally appeared in the July 26 edition of The Sheridan Press.
Today, July 26, is “All or Nothing Day,” and while it might sound like just another quirky calendar holiday, we think it’s a day tailor-made for people who call Wyoming home.
All or Nothing Day is about going all in. It’s about setting aside fear, hesitation or procrastination and finally chasing the thing that’s been tugging at your heart or mind. Whether that’s starting a business, having a difficult conversation, signing up for something outside your comfort zone or simply giving your full effort to a long-held dream, this is your nudge to make it happen.
That spirit of boldness is something Wyomingites know well. This state was built by people who didn’t wait for perfect conditions – they forged ahead through wind, weather and wide-open country with grit and determination. They faced what most would consider unsurmountable odds to begin a whole new life in an unknown territory. Taking chances, making bold decisions and acting bravely are in our history, our values and our everyday way of life. From the rancher trying something new to keep the land thriving, to the small business owner putting in long hours for the community they love, Sheridan County is full of people who don’t do things halfway.
Here at the Chamber, we believe All or Nothing Day is an invitation to step outside your comfort zone as well as a great reminder of how important and invigorating it is to push past hesitation and pursue something meaningful with intention and energy. For business owners, it might mean launching that new product line, applying for a grant or finally going to that Chamber event you’ve been meaning to attend. For individuals, maybe it’s the day you start that fitness goal, write that book or step forward to lead a community effort.
Whatever “your thing” is, today is about saying yes, fully, boldly and without holding back.
“All or Nothing” doesn’t mean acting recklessly. It means being intentional. Choosing what matters and giving it your whole self. And here in Sheridan County, you’re surrounded by a community that supports risk-takers and visionaries. We celebrate entrepreneurship, hard work, creativity and the courage to try something new.
With new leadership and several new employees at the Chamber, we’re looking to continue being progressive leaders in the community and embarking on a new strategic plan for the organization. This includes ways we can better support businesses, increase our economic impact and celebrate the strengths of our community.
So, how will you make today count? What’s the “all” you’ve been waiting to commit to? Whatever it is, take the first step today. Make the call. Start the plan. Say yes.
In true Wyoming fashion, let’s not wait for permission or perfect timing. Let’s be bold. Together.
Happy All or Nothing Day, Sheridan County.
