Registration for businesses and organizations to participate is open now through Oct. 28. The cost is $125 for Chamber members and $175 for non-Chamber members, plus a prize donation of $50 in value. Each participating business will receive five Stroll buttons to sell or give away as well as inclusion in all Christmas Stroll promotional materials and newspaper advertising. Participants also are encouraged to take part in the Lighting & Decorating Contest with a chance to win media packages and Chamber Bucks.

The 24th Annual Sheridan Christmas Stroll will take place, per tradition, the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Downtown Sheridan. This year’s theme is “The 12 Days of Christmas.”

Each year, Christmas Stroll brings up to 3,000 shoppers to Sheridan. Sheridan’s historic downtown is the hub of the Christmas Stroll event and activities, but businesses throughout Sheridan County can participate by selling Stroll buttons and having a winning button number for folks to come in to check from Stroll night through Dec. 24.

Stroll night activities will include photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, make-your-own-ornaments, wagon rides, in-store specials, Christmas carolers, winning Stroll buttons and more. This year’s Stroll buttons will be available for sale Nov. 8.

Following Stroll night, Stroll Button holders can “Get Caught Shopping” locally. Volunteers will try to “catch” button wearers shopping in Stroll-participating businesses the four Saturdays immediately after Stroll. Some lucky shoppers who get caught while wearing their buttons may receive Chamber Bucks if they are in a participating business.

Sheridan County Businesses to Host Community Manufacturing Day Events Oct. 2-4

For the third year, the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with local manufacturers, will celebrate national Manufacturing Day set for Friday, Oct. 4. This year, Sheridan’s celebration will expand from one day of tours and demonstrations to three days: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 2-4.

Thirteen local businesses and Sheridan College will open their doors to the public and local schools for the community to see firsthand how manufacturing works locally and learn about the career opportunities available.

Manufacturing Day is an annual national event to showcase modern manufacturing technology and to help shape people’s perceptions about today’s manufacturing environment. The annual celebration also is an opportunity to draw attention to the outstanding opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide.

“Manufacturing Day is an opportunity to highlight modern manufacturing—a vibrant and growing industry that offers diverse, high-paying career opportunities,” said Dixie Johnson, chief executive officer of the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce. “Our events in Sheridan, and the larger Manufacturing Day initiative, allow manufacturing companies like ours to showcase what manufacturing is really about. We are proud to highlight the innovative work local companies are doing and hope our events inspire the next generation of workforce talent to pursue a rewarding career in manufacturing.”

To mark the event, the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce’s Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) Committee has worked with local manufacturers to compile a schedule of tours for the event. The 2017 and 2018 tours were such a success that the BRE Committee decided to expand the celebration to three days to allow the public greater access.
